SUPERCUT: Project 5
OUTERSPACE GALLERY
MEANJIN / BRISBANE
DECEMBER 2022
ANTHROPIC ROCKS: cultural rubble is a playful experiment expanding from new ways of navigating and understanding familiar everyday public spaces. The artist has recently spent time in the regional towns between her current home of the Gold Coast and her childhood home of Inglewood, including Milmerran, Beaudesert, Warwick, Pittsworth, Gatton, Toowoomba and Helidon to collect Anthropic [Concrete] Rocks from everyday public spaces. By intentionally spending time beside roads, along fencelines, sports fields, public parks, footpaths, service stations and carparks, where breaks on a journey might be spent, the artist rekindles an intimate relationship with familiar regional landscapes through speculative geology, walking practice and performance.
This work was made on unceded Bundjalung, Ngarabal and Bigambul Land. Always was, always will be.
Also featuring work by Tay Haggerty, Veople, Ben Tupas, Sha Sarwari.
