'CONSTRUCTION EXCERPTS' is a series of material experiments created in response to processes, materials and actions observed at construction sites on the Gold Coast. As an observer from the street, the artist studies the way materials are arranged and connected to create urban space. While observing urban environments, buildings and spaces ‘in progress’, the artist has experimented with industrial materials and found objects to reference systems and flows at play. The artist considers how these ideas shift when on-site or off-site.

By understanding construction as both a spectacle and performance in this context, the street becomes the studio. Conceived and inspired by practices occurring in the public space, the artist considers these works to be public art.
